·      Do you see a place for VTS in the implementation of the Common Core State Standards?
o   If so, briefly describe.
o   If not, why do you believe it doesn’t fit?

To be honest, I know little about the Common Core State Standards at first. So I searched it online and got some information, then I know something about it and feel it is really important. I think even though China does not have the same document as this standard, we have something similar to require students to meet certain requirements in certain age.

I think it is good to raise the claim to guide the education. Educators can make curriculum according to it and helps students grow up and adapt the society in the future. In art education, I think most of the time maybe we do not do these things by purpose, but art can originally meet the needs of common core standards. I hope we can do more by purpose and let students benefit more from art.

I think VTS meet several aspects of Common Core State Standards.  When they discussing the image, they have to think independently and express their own ideas. It will improve their ability of thinking and language. Also, they will listen to others ideas and communicate with each other, it will develop their ability of communication and they will learn to respect others.

  1. It would be very interesting to compare the standards documents you have in China with the Common Core State STandards. I have read that the Common Core is internationally benchmarked meaning the developers looked at the curricula of other nations to see what commonalities they could find. Very interesting post!
