Images 2 & 3 are seem to be a little more accessible for your students, in my opinion, than Image #1. To really appreciate the fact that it represents a memory, you have to understand that the artist crated it from memory. This is not information that can be figured out simply by looking and discussing with the VTS method. One must research the artist and/or the artwork to discover this. Keep this in mind as your consider teaching this unit again.
Still, this unit is a very interesting one. I think that if your students had been a little older - perhaps high school - the images might have been better suited, but only teaching and reflecting will determine this for you.
